An Update from the President

An Update from the President

Dear Neighborhood CU Foundation Members,

As we reach the midpoint of 2024, I am excited to share with you the remarkable progress we have made so far this year. Our commitment to promoting financial literacy and well-being continues to drive our initiatives, and I am proud of the strides we have taken together.

Spring Scholarship Contest

This year's Spring Scholarship Contest was a resounding success. We concluded the contest in May, celebrating our talented recipients: Ashley Gomez, Lacalton Oby, Ryan Serria, Gabrielle Hancock, and Caitlyn Marshall. Each winner received a $2,000 scholarship. The participants explored the theme, “Discuss the relationship between financial literacy and mental well-being. How does understanding and managing personal finances contribute to an individual’s overall mental health?” Their insightful discussions and creative presentations underscored the vital connection between financial stability and mental health, highlighting how financial literacy can significantly enhance overall well-being.

HerMoney" by Jean Chatzky

In my last message, I mentioned the collaboration with Neighborhood Credit Union to launch the "HerMoney" series by Jean Chatzky. We launched in the first quarter of this year. This engaging series is being featured on our social media channels and blog and has covered a range of essential financial topics. Through informative articles and videos, "HerMoney" is empowering our members with the knowledge they need to improve their financial health and well-being.

Financial Literacy Webinars

We have also co-hosted two highly informative webinars: "Options for Dealing with Debt" in partnership with GreenPath Financial Wellness and "Setting Yourself Up for Financial Success in 2024." Both webinars were well-received, and for those who couldn't attend live, recordings are available on our YouTube channel. These webinars have provided invaluable insights and practical advice to help our members navigate their financial journeys more effectively.

New Members

Your Foundation is growing! I am delighted to report that from January to May, 328 new members have joined us. This growth is a testament to our ongoing efforts to reach and support more Texans in their financial endeavors.

Thank you for your unwavering support and engagement. Together, we are making significant strides in promoting financial literacy and well-being. I look forward to continuing this journey with all of you in the months ahead.

Warmest regards,

Carolyn Jordan
